Docker client query verbs from edX course Fundamentals of Containers, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift
List all containers
docker ps -a
List only numeric IDs of all running and stopped containers
docker ps -a -q
Delete all stopped containers
docker rm $(docker ps -a -q)
$(docker ps -a -q) will return only numeric IDs of all running and stopped containers, which will be feeded to docker rm command.
Delete all images not being used by any container
docker rmi $(docker images -q)
$(docker images -q) will return only numeric IDs of images, which will be feeded to docker rmi command.
